What total is actually enough?

Wickets markets

How the wickets actually fall.

An average first innings loses 6.4 wickets, and 74% of all dismissals are catches. Aggressive batting brings the fielders into play — which is why wicket counts climb sharply in the death overs.

Guide · Three markets

How to predict each market.

Match Winner

  1. Check the venue's par score and who it favours.
  2. Compare powerplay and death bowling — the two fastest phases.
  3. Factor in the toss: chasing sides won 58% recently.
  4. Finish with form, injuries and the playing XI.

Over/Under Runs

  1. Start from the par score — around 194 in recent IPL games.
  2. Adjust for pitch, boundary size and dew.
  3. Rate both attacks at the death, where innings accelerate.
  4. Compare your number with the line, not the other way round.

Wickets

  1. Expect about 6 wickets in a full first innings.
  2. Aggressive line-ups lose more — most dismissals are catches.
  3. Quality spin squeezes the middle overs.
  4. Late overs bring the most wickets of the innings.

Cricket FAQ

Cricket betting, explained.

Every figure on this page is counted from real, completed T20 matches.

How do you predict the winner of a T20 match?

Start with the par score for the venue and conditions, then ask which side is better equipped to beat it: batting depth, powerplay and death-over bowling, and how each team handles a chase. In recent IPL matches the side batting second won 58% of games, so the toss and the decision it forces matter before a ball is bowled.

How do I predict over/under runs for an innings?

Anchor on the par score, not on the headline line. In recent IPL matches the average first-innings total was 194 and the median 199. Then adjust for the pitch (flat or slow), boundary size, dew for the side batting second, and the strength of each attack in the powerplay and at the death, where most runs are scored.

How many runs are scored in the powerplay and at the death?

In full 20-over first innings, teams averaged about 60 runs in the six powerplay overs, 83 in the nine middle overs and 56 in the last five. The death overs run at 11.3 an over — the fastest phase of the game — which is why late wickets and death bowling decide so many totals.

How do I approach wickets markets?

Look at when wickets fall and how. An average first innings lost 6.4 wickets, with the heaviest concentration in the final overs as batters take risks. 74% of dismissals were catches, so a big ground, good fielding sides and aggressive batting line-ups all push wicket totals up.

How much does the toss matter?

It matters, but it is not decisive. Toss winners won 57% of recent IPL matches, and 82% of captains chose to bowl first, mainly to chase with full knowledge of the target and to use the evening dew. Weigh the toss inside the match-winner picture rather than betting on it alone.

What changes when a T20 match is shortened by rain?

The par score drops, but not in a straight line. With fewer overs, wickets in hand matter less, so teams attack from the first ball and the run rate rises. For totals, rebuild the par from the new number of overs rather than scaling the original line, and remember the chasing side gets a revised target.
